Animal Therapy
At Life Skills Hub we are reaching out to make sure we can offer unique specialist interactions to our bespoke packages. Animal Therapy can be helpful in promoting social interaction and breaking down barriers, emotionally and in a social context. Animals can trigger the release of endorphins, a feel-good neurotransmitter that gives a calming effect and boosts the level of serotonin, a chemical linked with happiness and well-being.

Pony therapy is a bespoke service we can offer at Life Skills Hub with a qualified Equine Therapist. This is a non-riding therapy all about helping individuals to build confidence, self- efficiency, communication, trust, perspective, social skills, impulse control, and learn about boundaries. Our equine therapy is open to all ages.
We offer animal therapy to our students predominantly offered through working with therapeutic dogs and therapy miniature ponies. We work closely with Claire at Therapony who provides fully qualified animal assisted therapy at her stables.

We also work closely with other partners where our Young People visit to gain real life experience in animal care including; RSPCA, Hull & East Riding, Caring for Cats and Instinctive Horse Training.

Some of our students have horse riding as part of their bespoke package and we have a veterinary nurse as part of our multi-disciplinary team who assists with understanding the biology of animals and assists with Young People working towards AQAs in small animal modules.
