Tuition
Life Skills Hub can offer a Specialist SEND Tuition Service for children and young people from 4 years to 25 years old. This compliments us at Life Skills Hub therapeutic services and is available as an independent delivery or work alongside other services when the young person is ready to learn. This can be delivered in the home, the community or in the school.

We work with students, using our significant SEND and wellbeing experience, to build a relational approach and will deliver tuition in a kinaesthetic, practical and creative way.

We support the students to work towards their next educational step. Taking a holistic approach on a 1-1 basis and providing feedback on our observations, assessments and progress to the student, family and the commissioned school or local authority on a regular basis.

We are an AQA Unit Award Scheme registered Centre and offer these Life Skill Awards for all young people at Life Skills Hub and all achievements and certificates are held in their Achievement Portfolio.

We offer a baselining (finding academic levels) for students at an additional cost to schools and local authorities to capture an accurate account of where students are academically. This is particularly useful for students who have been out of education for a long time or have complex SEND needs. Recommendations and a personal profile for each student is provided for review and record keeping.

Each package is bespoke, built around the specific needs of the young person and reviewed regularly to ensure progress and suitability. We specifically focus on readiness to learn and the young person feeling capable and successful. If appropriate, we also support the pupil’s change into the next setting ensuring an effective transition.
Hi, I'm Elly.

I absolutely love working with Life Skills Hub. I am the Services Manager. This is where I look after all the services within Life Skills and make sure what we are delivering is the right package for each individual.

I have had a few, diverse careers which I have absolutely loved and use all these experiences to help the individuals I work with. This started as being a Warfare Officer in the Royal Navy where I travelled to many different places all over the world, then as a Fitness Instructor and Children's Activities Co-ordinator, to working as a Teaching Assistant and quickly realising that I wanted to teach! I qualified as a teacher in 2010.

I really enjoy keeping fit with exercise classes, running and cycling and also love singing. You’ll often find me trying to grow things in my garden at the weekends.
Hi I'm Cat.

I feel really privileged to be part of a wonderful setting at Life Skills Hub. I believe everyone should be able to access and enjoy learning, through a learning style that suits them, to open doors to pursue their dreams for the future. I have a passion for being creative and love to use this in my teaching wherever possible. I strongly believe in art as therapy and use these techniques myself as well as with my students, to encourage mindfulness, stress release, escapism, the release of anxiety and as a grounding technique. In my spare time you can find me drawing, painting, reading, baking, gardening, going on days out and all this is accompanied by my little shadow, my daughter.
Hi I'm Niamh.

I am thrilled to be working with Life Skills Hub, to be able to uphold their ethos and values to make positive changes in the lives of children and young people. I hope to support individuals in all areas, encourage independence and build confidence.

I have worked with young people in a school environment for many years, supporting those who have social, emotional, or mental health needs. I worked with individuals to make sure their needs were met so they could have positive experiences during their education and be given the opportunity to succeed just as any other individual would. I feel rapport and building appropriate relationships is one of the most important aspects to facilitate growth within self and I love that Life Skills Hub encourages this so much!

My hobbies and interests are mainly focused around my dogs Sparkles and Sidney, we go camping in the Lake District, search for waterfalls or spend our days at the beach. I love cooking for family and friends, and I have recently started jogging. These are all elements which help my mood, mental health, and wellbeing.
Hello, my name is Kate.

I am a Mummy to two wonderful little people. I enjoy nothing more than spending time outdoors with my family and friends. I find it helps to clear your mind and allows you to enjoy the moment. My favourite place to go, come rain or shine, is the seaside. Being able to get delicious fish and chips is just a bonus! I am a Hull Kingston Rovers fan and enjoy attending matches when I can.

I strongly believe that children should be active participants in their own learning and have opportunities for their voices to be heard. I love to set fun challenges which spark curiosity and allow children to investigate and explore. Learning through play indoors and outdoors allows children to access education at their own level, it is just my job to facilitate their learning through questioning and sustained shared thinking.
Hi I am Ellie.

I like to be outside as much as possible, enjoying the richness and awe of the natural world. I am lucky to live on a farm with pet chickens and sheep - who knew sheep were such funny creatures! In my spare time I love going out for coffee and charity shopping with my daughter and going to see bands with my husband. Gardening is a therapy of mine, along with yoga, wild swimming and when the garden is hibernating I like to cosy up with crochet and needle-felting crafts.

I am passionate about making a positive difference to children and young people’s lives. I believe that good self-esteem and aspiration are as much a human right as food, shelter and warmth. I grew up feeling like a square peg in a round hole and my life hasn't taken a linear path, but the bumps and detours have given me an added empathy for the people I work with - I understand the challenges. People are where it’s at, I have been helped by many people in my life and it is a great feeling to be able to pay it forward.
Hi, I am Vicky and I am very happy to have joined the team and am really enjoying my work with Life Skills Hub. I have been a teacher for the last 26 years and although I have loved being a teacher and found it very rewarding, I decided to leave this career so that I could focus on helping children and young people with the challenges they face with their mental health.

I have always believed in a whole-child approach to education with the intent of making a positive difference to each child's life and this is an approach I bring with me to my work with Life Skills Hub. As well as my PGCE in primary education, I have a degree in Psychology and Physiology and I am very eager to be able to use this qualification to help others. I have always believed in the saying knowledge is power, and I feel that when people understand what is happening in their bodies and why, it can help them to find ways of overcoming any difficulties they may face. I am currently working as an outreach worker for Life Skills, working mainly with children in the school setting on either a 1:1 basis or in small groups, with support for some young people in their homes. In my spare time I enjoy walks with our dog and swimming but my main love is spending time with my family.

Hi I am Jo. In my spare time I really love walking around the countryside and taking in the joy of nature. I also love animals and have a dog, Blue, who loves walks and cuddles, and a cat, Loki. I love pottering in my garden and enjoy spending time with my family.

I enjoy doing anything crafty, sewing, card making, pom-pom making, etc. I love all things, Harry Potter. I recognise it's super important to look after myself and apply some self care, when I need some quiet time, I love nothing more than relaxing in a nice bath and have been known to tackle the odd jigsaw or two. I'm passionate to bring my therapeutic skills and experience to Life Skills Hub because I can share, learn, and explore existing and new skills alongside students to help manage anxiety and social situations.

I feel I am a good listener who will support young people through any issues that may arise. I have suffered with anxiety myself so understand the benefit of having support and someone who cares. I strongly believe young people should be seen, heard, valued and supported on their journey.

Hi I am Danielle. During my spare time I like going for walks along the coast and enjoying spending time with my daughter and doing her new hobby of metal detecting together. I also like going for woodland walks and spotting whatever wildlife we come across.

After our daytime adventures we often end up playing hair and nail salons and often cover each other in glitter tattoos, so you may often see me with a sparkling tattoo. Prior to working with SEND I was a Registered Veterinary Nurse for about 10 years and I also have a degree in Animal science, giving me a vast knowledge of working with animals and topics surrounding animals.

I am also keen on improving the environment and saving our habitats and the animals that live within them.

Hi I am Angela. In my spare time I enjoy taking my rather big and totally soft yellow Labrador, Messi out for walks, this gives me time to think about my day and jobs that need doing. I go bouldering 2-3 times a week and am excited to start climbing outdoors in the summer for the first time! I love to learn and am excited to start learning from new experiences at Life Skills Hub.

I have come across a variety of challenges within both my professional and personal life and found I am a compassionate, patient, and caring person, always wanting the best for others. The skills and knowledge I have gained over the years will be of use to myself and others, in my new role at Life Skills Hub.

I have worked with children and young adults with special educational needs for over 10 years, both in mainstream schools and special need schools. I always find their alternative views on everyday life refreshing, finding their strengths as well as helping with their difficulties is extremely rewarding. I have helped children with communication, social and sensory difficulties to name a few. I am passionate about helping those with difficulties overcome them and thrive at life.
